Flagstaff, AZ – November 11, 2025 – On Veteran’s Day — and throughout National Veterans and Military Families Month — Verizon and Nation’s Finest are joining forces to expand connectivity for Veterans in rural and underserved areas of Northern Arizona by bridging the digital and physical barriers that too often stand between Veterans and the care they’ve earned.

Verizon recently awarded two $10,000 grants to Nation’s Finest to support its Mobile Service Unit (MSU) program, which brings on-the-ground assistance to Veterans in communities with limited access to support. The grants helped outfit and operate the Flagstaff-based MSU, one of several mobile units agency-wide that deliver housing assistance, benefits navigation, connection to health care, and other essential services directly to Veterans where they live.

In 2024, the Flagstaff MSU traveled more than 25,000 miles across Northern Arizona through Nation’s Finest’s Flagstaff office, which serves Coconino, Navajo, Gila, and Apache Counties.

Building on that success, Verizon will continue to support Nation’s Finest’s MSU program into 2026, expanding its capacity to reach even more Veterans across the West.

“When I retired from active duty in 2021, I returned to my rural hometown and experienced firsthand the many ways distance can challenge one’s transition from military service,” noted Chris Flaherty, CEO of Nation’s Finest. “Having partners like Verizon to help bridge those gaps makes all the difference.”

Nation’s Finest MSUs function as mobile outreach hubs equipped with digital connectivity, private meeting space and Veteran service staff. Since the Flagstaff MSU began operating, it has connected hundreds of Veterans in remote areas to critical support.

“I was in a situation where I needed to leave immediately and had nowhere to go,” said Michael Holbrrok, a Veteran served by Nation’s Finest-Flagstaff. “Using their Mobile Support Unit, they were able to reach me in a remote area, help me pack all my belongs, and move me to safety. Now I have my own apartment where I can shower, sleep in a bed, and cook my own meals.”

Through their partnership, Verizon and Nation’s Finest are expanding the reach of connection and linking Veterans to care, opportunity, and community. Whether that connection comes through a video call or a helping hand, it ensures no Veteran is left out of reach.
