Santa Rosa, CA – Nation’s Finest, a 501(c)(3) national nonprofit organization dedicated to providing comprehensive supportive services to America’s military Veterans and their families, wishes to bring attention to Proposition 1, which will be on the March 2024 ballot in California.

As a member of the California Association of Veteran Service Organizations (CAVSA), Nation’s Finest acknowledges the endorsement of Proposition 1 by CAVSA, which emphasizes the significance of this bond measure for addressing critical issues such as mental health, homelessness, and substance abuse within the Veteran community.

Proposition 1 proposes a $6.4 billion bond measure that aims to redirect existing funds towards prioritizing Californians with the deepest mental health needs, those living in encampments, and individuals struggling with severe substance abuse issues. Notably, this measure includes provisions to expand mental health and addiction services, create housing settings tailored to meet the needs of individuals with severe mental health conditions, and allocate $1 billion specifically to address the needs of Veterans experiencing homelessness, mental health challenges, and substance abuse issues.

For Nation’s Finest, the well-being of Veterans is of utmost importance, and we believe it is crucial to highlight the potential impact of this measure on the Veteran community. The allocation of resources towards housing solutions and mental and behavioral health services aligns with our mission to ensure that those who have served our country receive the assistance they deserve.

We urge local counties and jurisdictions in California to prioritize collaboration with agencies like Nation’s Finest to ensure the delivery of services that support the well-being of Veterans. Nation’s Finest is dedicated to working together with local communities, service organizations, and government entities to assist Veterans in need. We are eager to cooperate in developing structures that promote health and stability to California’s most vulnerable residents.

Thank you for your attention to this important matter.
