June 26, 2026 – Rancho Cordova, CA — Nation’s Finest, Mercy Housing California and community partners gathered today to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Mather Veterans Village, a milestone marking a decade of providing affordable housing, supportive services, and a strong sense of community for Veterans in the Sacramento region.
Since opening in 2016, Mather Veterans Village has become a model for Veteran housing and support, helping hundreds of Veterans access stable housing while connecting them to critical services that promote long-term independence and well-being.
The anniversary celebration brought together resident Veterans, elected officials, community organizations, project partners and supporters to reflect on the impact of the community over the past decade and recognize the individuals and organizations that have helped make its success possible.
“For 10 years, Mather Veterans Village has shown what’s possible when committed partners come together around a shared mission,” said Chris Flaherty, retired senior Naval officer, combat Veteran and Chief Executive Officer at Nation’s Finest. “I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve built together and the hundreds of Veterans whose lives have been changed because of it.”
Developed through a partnership between Nation’s Finest and Mercy Housing California and supported by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, CalVet, Sacramento Housing and Redevelopment Agency, California Department of Housing and Community Development, the City of Rancho Cordova and Wells Fargo, Mather Veterans Village combines affordable housing with comprehensive supportive services, including case management, health and wellness resources, benefits navigation and employment assistance.
“This 10-year milestone is both a celebration and a call to continue the work,” said Tiffany Bohee, President of Mercy Housing California. “Mather Veterans Village has transformed hundreds of lives, and with Phase IV now underway, we’re committed to expanding access to high-quality, service-enriched housing so even more Veterans in the Sacramento region can find stability and a place to call home. We are deeply grateful to the Veterans who have shaped this community, and to our many dedicated partners whose leadership and collaboration have made this impact possible.”
The event also highlighted the stories of Veteran residents who have called Mather Veterans Village home for more than 10 years. Guests toured the campus and viewed a special art installation showcasing the resilience, service and experiences of Veterans living in the community.
“The transformation Mather Veterans Village has given me is day and night,” said Sheila Austin, Army Veteran and 10-year resident at Mather Veterans Village. “Having both safety and stability has made a major difference in my life.”
Mather Veterans Village continues to grow to meet the needs of Veterans in the region. Earlier this year, partners broke ground on Phase IV, which will add 70 new affordable homes for senior Veterans and expand access to housing for those most in need.
The project has been made possible through the support of numerous public and private partners, including Wells Fargo and Home Depot, whose commitment has helped strengthen housing opportunities and supportive services for Veterans.
“Mather Veterans Village reflects a long-term commitment to expanding access to stable, service-enriched housing for Veterans,” said Eric Leimbach, Managing Director at Wells Fargo. “We’re proud to help advance a community that pairs housing with critical services and helps Veterans build lasting stability and independence.”
Today, Mather Veterans Village stands as a testament to what can be achieved when housing providers, service organizations, government agencies and community partners work together to support those who have served our country.
